Saturday, however, looks like it may be the one thing that keeps USPS from completing their appointed rounds. I think this might be a good idea though.

I am a little upset though that the way they want to save some money is by taking services from the people who pay for them. I’m willing to make that sacrifice though. Then they throw the price increase on it and then it seems even more ridiculous. I’m all for finding ways to cut cost, but they always seem to want more of my money.

I think our local Post Office had it all figured out a couple of years ago. They put a self-service machine in the lobby that was available 24/7. So that would be a great option for Saturdays. The maintenance and installation of one of those machines has to be cheaper than the workforce that is employed at the Post Office. I say put in a couple more of those and give the employees that Saturday off. That would help the mail intake anyway. As for the deliveries, well we just have to take one for the team.

The problem is that our local office removed the machine just a while ago. It was my favorite way of mailing items out. It was quick and simple. Now I have to go talk to someone all over again which takes more time and money.

So the idea of cutting deliveries on Saturday gets my vote because it is just good Common Sense (though it does take away from those paying for the service), but I would like to seem some other ideas implemented as well.
