Pointlesss Lawsuits

Iowa Woman Sues Wal-Mart Over Fall in Puddle of Vomit

I am so tired of all these frivolous lawsuits. Common sense should tell us that it is very unlikely that Wal-Mart is directly responsible for this accident. It is reasonable to believe that if they were aware of the mess, they would try to get rid of it. That is just good business.

Accidents happen and people need to realize that as do all these moronic trial lawyers. There should be a limit to how much someone can sue for in these absurd cases and maybe even in all cases unless there is an evident monetary value. I also think the losing party should be required, by law, to pay for all of the legal fees for the other party. That might stop some of these stupid lawsuits.

Top Ten Frivolous Lawsuits

Some may think this is funny but I really think it’s just sad…

Do you believe in Global Warming?

I want to know why the main-stream media is totally overlooking this current information.

Climate Momentum Shifting: Prominent Scientists Reverse Belief in Man-made Global Warming

I’m not going to say much on the topic because I want you to click the link and read what it says!

This is one of my favorite points in the article:

Geophysicist Dr. Claude Allegre, a top geophysicist and French Socialist who has authored more than 100 scientific articles and written 11 books and received numerous scientific awards including the Goldschmidt Medal from the Geochemical Society of the United States, converted from climate alarmist to skeptic in 2006. Allegre, who was one of the first scientists to sound global warming fears 20 years ago, now says the cause of climate change is “unknown” and accused the “prophets of doom of global warming” of being motivated by money, noting that “the ecology of helpless protesting has become a very lucrative business for some people!”

I would love to give that man the Coherent Thinker award, but he’s really going off of facts and not using his common sense to come at his conclusion, so we’ll have to pass on awarding it to him.

25 Inventions that changed the world!

25 years of ‘eureka‘ moments

I thought some of the choices were warranted and I thought some were virtually pointless. Maybe I just don’t see how some of those things changed my life, but maybe it had a bigger impact on society than I realize.

I would have removed: blackberries, lettuce in a bag, Big Bertha golf clubs, StairMaster, and karaoke. I think I could make at least an argument for the rest of them.

So what would you have changed or what would be your top 25?

New Stuff Added

I decided that since we had an Illogical Thought Award, we also needed a Coherent Thinker Award. I will go back and award this to those post that I fell are worthy to receive this award.

If you haven’t checked out the CT Shop I would suggest you go take a look. Right now we only have on design, but it is a fun one. It could definitely start some conversations when wearing Coherent Thought Gear!

I have added some new categories to the blog. We now have categories listing the Illogical Thought Award winners and the Coherent Thinker Award winners. I also felt the need to make a category for Global Warming because it seems to be a hot topic that a lot of people can’t view from a common sense perspective. (Hint: there is a new post coming on this soon)

So what do you think of the new additions and what would you like to see?

HIGH GAS PRICES GOT YOU DOWN?

I recently read this article and it reminded me of something I wrote a year ago but is extremely relevant to Coherent Thought. So some of the information may be relevant at the time like the info on China and the CEO, but it is still a good read.

Here are some interesting graphs to look at and I want you to look at them with common sense!

HIGH GAS PRICES GOT YOU DOWN?

Well you won’t get any sympathy from me. People that make a lot more money than me come and complain to me every day about the high price of gas and I’m tired of it.

The oil companies are making lots of money but their profit margin is only about 10% which is not good for any business regardless of how much money goes into the business. It’s about margin people not dollars.

The price is not dictated by the oil companies. They have to pay certain amounts for each barrel of oil based on the market. The price per barrel is very high right now because China and India are buying lots and lots of oil. They are using more than they ever have which is sending the price up. This is common economics. When demand is greater than supply the price goes up. Exxon and others like them can do nothing about that because they make up a VERY SMALL percentage of the oil industry world-wide.

The few million that Exxon gave it’s CEO for a retirement package was a small amount on the grand scale and if he gave it all back wouldn’t bring the price of gas down one penny!

Thoughtful Insight
Banks charge a hight interest rate to those they think are a higher risk. That is how they make money. Every business has intrinsic risks in it. So (and this is only speculation and not necessarily happening) why wouldn’t the gas companies raise prices right now due to the current unrest of some of our oil suppliers. It makes sense from a business point of view.

Also, why are we mad at companies for making profit. It helps dramatically stabilize and strengthen our US Market. If a farmer that harvested corn (keep in mind his cost is set up months in advance) took all this corn out of the ground at the same time some great discovery was made about corn that made everyone want it. Would be mad at the farmer for making more money than he would have originally. NO because the market dictated his price not the farmer. The same is true for the oil industry.

For many years now gas prices have not kept up with inflation. What does this mean? It means we’ve been making more and paying less for gas than we should be compared to everything else.

Another interesting fact about gas is that the Government makes a lot more per gallon on gas than the oil companies do. Their taxes on the gas is more than the oil companies make per gallon. So when you hear the news media or a politician blame the oil companies keep in mind the Government could greatly take some of the burden off. They would rather take the money away from the oil companies though who actually produce the oil, and if they don’t make a profit they won’t make fuel. Then we’re in big trouble!

I could go on and on with my explanation of the way things work but I hope this enlightens you a little. If you have any questions feel free to ask. Snide remarks, lay em on me!

I too wish we were paying less for gas, but even at the current price gas is a BARGAIN! for what you get out of it and compared to the rest of the world.

How would you fix it?

I was recently asked how I would fix the problems in our great country. What about you? I keep hearing people demand this or that, say how stupid things are and go on and on about how we need change. What I have yet to hear is a Common Sense approach to everything.

Let’s start with the War in Iraq.
I say bring the troops home now, begin a staged pullout of several thousand troops per month and tell Iraq, “you will need to fill the gap as it grows with your own security forces” and once we are gone, we are gone. Civil War will erupt, it’s a given, but it is going to have to happen if they are truly going to form a stable government. We did it, most civilized nations have gone through them, it’s part of a government being forced to listen to the people.

Illegal immigration
Bring our troops home and put them to work sealing our southern boarder, I don’t mean guarding it, I mean SEALING IT OFF! Designate a one mile area between our boarder and Mexico that is a no man’s land of dangerous thing, terminal things. Anyone venturing into our sovereign nation without proper authorization will be dealt with as an invading force. I think we could seriously slow down illegal immigration and put our forces to work and live action training all at the same time.

Gas Prices will drop.
That is a slower fix but there is one. We will begin immediate drilling in Alaska, Florida and anywhere else we find oil deposits in this country. Zero tolerance will be shown to anyone attempting to form a human shield to ‘protect the environment’. Harsh? Then shut up and pay the price for gas as it is now. Either quit whining and belly up to the pumps or get out of the way for progress. If it kills some wildlife then you Darwin fans of nature should sleep well seeing his “Survival of the Fittest” theology in action.

Government must shrink.
Every elected official will get one secretary and one aid assigned to them. Both positions will have a pay range of $35,000.00 to $45,000.00 per year and any other positions of service to these officials will be paid out of their own pockets. Elected Officials will get an annual starting salary of $60,000.00 and can increase no more than $2,000.00 yearly and they will not get yearly pay raises unless their yearly evaluation (conducted by their constituency) meets a level of 90% or above. What are they being evlauated on? Their campaign promises, we are going to hold them to the fire. No longer will they vote their own pay raises into effect like it is now.

No new furniture every year, their office will be filled with items built at the local prisons, we have ALOT of free labor there. No drivers, if they want to go somewhere they can take the car they will be provided, probably the ones taken in by the lowest AMERICAN bidder. No more turning on my TV to find a senator from California in a hostile foreign country spouting her mouth off about something she has NO right to address. They were elected to represent their area, NOT ME OR MINE! One American from another district tried to contact her office to say he was displeased with her doing that, they told him, “Your not a registered voter in her district, she does not have to listen to you”. Stay in your district.

None will serve more than 4 consecutive terms, a term being now 2 years. If we want to see people go there to fix things we need to make sure they know it is temporary then they are back into the work force.

No more importing food.
We grow what we need, if we can’t grow it in this wonderful country then we will consider importing it but only with the understanding that the country that exports their goods to us MUST import a minimum level of our products to equal the cost of what we purchase from them. If you have never had your own backyard garden, your missing out!

Alternative Energy.
Nuclear. It is clean and safe! If your going to piss and moan about coal, shut up when we give you an alternative. Windmills are stupid, they don’t produce enough electricity to power the machines that make them. Want another option, SOLAR! It is the truly clean, natural, renewable fuel for mankind.

All of this was just a start, it can be shocking to people who are spoon fed by the leftist media, but when you come out of your Common Sense induced seizure…consider the true options to make this country great again. We need to stop listening to a bunch of communist money hording liberals who want 100x the control that the government has now! Wake up America!

Common Sense wins again!

Incoherent Movie Morons

Well today I get to cover a topic that I know others have talked about before, but it is my turn to chime in.

Last night I went to see Spiderman 3 at my local cinema. It was my wife and I and another couple. It was a Thursday night early in the evening so we showed up and we were the only people there. A little time passed and another couple showed up and sat in the very back. We were in the front of the second tier which offers the best view and sound experience in my opinion. Well it was nearly time for the movie to start and this kid and his mother came in and started to sit behind us a ways. No big deal! It was at this time though, that the child (demon spawn) decides to move. So he starts to sit right next to my wife! The entire place is virtually empty! Then he moves again on the other side of us. They finally, after moving so many times I literally lost count, sat right behind us. I knew at this point I was in for some fun.

What made it even better was right as the previews were about to start a couple came in and sat in front of us in the only seats that could possibly block the view of any other seat in the entire place. So now I have demon spawn behind me and two morons in front of me.

It doesn’t take much to see where a lack of common sense comes in here. To top it all off the kid wasn’t even there for most of the movie because he kept going back and getting more snacks and I can only assume a bathroom break or three. At the end, which turned out to be his last snack for the movie, he kept crackling the package and it was making so much noise because it was at the quiet end of the movie. (If you’ve seen the movie you know the part… tear)

So next time you’re in a movie, leave the kid, turn off the cell, sit by yourself, and SHUT UP!
