Paw & Claw Tax

I’m not from New York so this doesn’t directly affect me but the idea behind it is the same.

A ‘Paw and Claw Tax’ Will Bite Pet Owners

This is just another crazy tax for the state of New York brought on by a Republican no less. We have come to expect more taxes from the Democrats, but generally the Republican Party wants a lower tax on things and individuals. It is supposed to go to the animal shelters but what are the chances that all of the money from this new tax will actually go to this purpose? I would guess-None! Your taxes never truly go where they are supposed to go!

The article has one of the most common sense things I have ever heard:

Economist Tom Sowell
once added up all the hundreds of billions of dollars that the
government spends on poverty programs—everything from food stamps to
Medicaid. The total was so large that if you just divided that huge
number by the number of poor families in America, you could raise the
annual income of poor families to levels solidly in the middle class.
In other words, if you just canceled all government poverty programs
and used that cash to cut a check for every poor person in America,
there would be no poor people in America.

I work for a government program and I see abuses of the system every day. People would be better off if we made them truly take care of themselves. We have created a society of dependents and that is never good. So much of the money that is supposed to be used for the “underprivileged” never even reaches them. It is either used by the program administrators or it is given to someone who worked over the system and isn’t truly even eligible.

We need to stop giving people things and start giving them hope.

Cho Seung-Hui

His statement to the world, “When the time came, I did it. I had to.”

He went on to praise other murderers such as, “martyrs like Eric and Dylan”, in an obvious reference to Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold, the teenagers who killed 12 students and a teacher at Columbine High School in Littleton, Colo., eight years ago this week.

Cho spewed hate towards “hedonism” and “Christianity” while talking at length about his hatred of the wealthy. He said in his idiotic letter to MSNBC, “You had a hundred billion chances and ways to have avoided today, but you decided to spill my blood. You forced me into a corner and gave me only one option. The decision was yours. Now you have blood on your hands that will never wash off.”

I have already heard enough. Common Sense says we throw it in the trash can like the garbage it is. You see, the problem here lies in the fact Cho is from the “it’s not my fault it’s everybody else” generation that is sadly destroying civilized society around us today. Look at how many times he uses the word “you”, he takes no responsibility for his actions, they all belong to the mythical person named, “you”.

No one takes responsibility for their actions, it’s mommy or daddy’s fault, its society’s fault, it’s the President’s fault, it’s all the fault of big business and oil, its all television’s fault, it’s my girlfriend’s fault because she broke up with me or wouldn’t have sex with me, it’s the fault of video games, it’s the music’s fault for having violent lyrics, its my medication, it’s the lack of medication….BLAH BLAH BLAH!

We don’t teach people to cope anymore! We don’t tell them to suck it up and move on. We teach them to lay blame, to seek therapy or support groups, to go on disability because they are depressed or can’t stop crying. SUCK IT UP PEOPLE! Grow up and learn from your mistakes and others around you!

To the entire world I say, don’t allow this to become the norm…..but sadly, it may already be too late. I’m fed up with these whining, sissy, spoiled brat, children AND adults who pick up guns to make a statement when they are obviously too stupid to choose the right thing. Make no mistake, there are VERY few who don’t know right from wrong, and it our responsibility to sort that small group out and isolate them from society, but Cho was not one of them.

Cho knew what he was doing and slowly, painstakingly planned it out over a period of time. He knew it was wrong but chose a cowards way out, and in doing so he destroyed the lives of many people around him. In a small way society is to blame, it’s time we took a stand and stop coddling people, stop spoon feeding excuses and drugs to people. It’s time to take a firm position on right and wrong America, its time we take a long hard look in the mirror, before its too late.

Bufford

Virginia Tech Shooting

I suppose it’s time I write about this. I’ve been waiting for a bit to really gather in the situation. It was a horrible thing and an occurrence that is taking place way too often any more.

‘Question Mark’ Killer Quietly Seethed With Rage

It seems that maybe this situation could have been avoided. This article states that he had recently set fire to a dorm room and that he stalked women. Those two things alone should warrant some action against him. Then you go on to find out he wrote a disturbingly graphic play
for an English class which got him referred to counseling. It seems several signs were there that showed this kid should be on watch.

We live in a society that wants to make excuses for the bad behavior of its own people. We’re also told that stereotyping is unfair and unjust. I believe what is really unfair is a disturbed young man, who apparently had some previous problems on campus, takes two semi-automatic hand guns and attacks his professors and his fellow students.

So who do we blame? Do we blame the school? Do we blame society? Do blame the gun dealer that sold him the guns or maybe even the gun manufacturers?

Parents Demand Firing of Virginia Tech President, Police Chief Over Poor Handling of Mass Shooting

Since we thrive on common sense here at Coherent Thought, we are taking the stand that the person to blame is obviously the shooter himself. Maybe life was rough on him, but each and every one of us have some bad things happen sometimes. We just have to learn to respond to that stimuli in the proper way. Yeah, he used two hand guns to commit this heinous act, but he made the conscious decision to pull the trigger.

Now let’s focus on those that remain…

Signs of Freedom

Regardless of where you stand on the war it is evident that the people of Iraq are better now than they were before the war started.

Thousands Demonstrate in Basra Against Governor

Things are obviously not perfect over there and I hate to see anyone in a war, but this protest would not have been possible under previous circumstances. I can attest personally to the fact that their freedoms have grown due to the fact that Saddam was removed from power. I am a Director in the Awana program. The Awana program has been able to grow, expand, and operate freely now that more freedom has been given to the people of Iraq. That was unable to be done while Saddam was in power.

Things may not be perfect in this war and I don’t think we should expect them to be perfect. Persistence will be the key, so we need to continue to look for other signs of freedom!

Cell Phone Homicide

Today’s topic was inspired by two stories that I read recently.

Cell Phone Etiquette

Geek Squad Technician a Peeping Tom

If you read the first link and didn’t see the big deal about the situation then you are obviously a CELL PHONE ETIQUETTE OFFENDER! This is where you and I shall part ways because you are obviously not a Coherent Thinker. In college I worked at a local custard shop and I often found myself working the register or the drive-thru. I enjoyed both even though a lot of my co-workers did not. I could not stand when people came up to the register with a cell phone stuck to their face. It made doing my job and being courteous very difficult. It was even worse when they were on a cell phone at the drive-thru. Someone would pull up to the speaker and we would give our greeting. The person would then start talking. This is when I would respond to clarify what they were saying only to be scolded and notified harshly that they were not talking to me. That’s why, while in college, I wrote an English paper titled “Cell Phone Homicide”. It was one of my favorite essays that I had ever written and the teacher really enjoyed it. I’ll try to upload it if I can find it.

I’ll refrain from calling the cell phone the “worst invention ever made” only because I own one and really enjoy having one. I enjoy mine so much that I don’t even have a house phone. I use my cell phone for every call I make. I do, however, understand that there are times that the cell phones needs to be left out of the picture. I would ask you to do the same thing especially when using a hands-free device. I won’t even attempt that fiasco in this topic.

So next time you’re getting ready to order at your local food establishment and your cell phone rings - Let it go! I would hate to see another victim of a Cell Phone Homicide!

Global Warming Makes for a Nice Lobster Dinner

I’m not a big lobster fan but I find myself wondering if I should feel like one. I mean with all this Global Warming going on the weather should make for a nice tropical delight. I figure that’s what the lobster thinks when you first start to boil it. At first the lobster enjoys the nice steam room environment, but then the steam and water temperature start to pick up. It’s still relaxing but he’s starting to get worried especially since he’s starting to turn a brighter shade of red. Before he realizes it, he’s cooked! At least by the time Global Warming has cooked us all we won’t even realize it!

There is currently some great Global Warming Evidence In My Area!

The Great Global Warming Swindle (You mean I’ve been lied to)

Global Warming Heresy (Surely the news media would not deceive me)

Right now this lobster is on ice, but I wouldn’t mind being dipped in some butter…

How Sweet It Is!

How sweet is it? That’s the topic of today’s somewhat pointless discussion.

Rivals Argue Splenda’s “Made From Sugar” Claim Confuses Consumers
Let’s be realistic here. People buy Splenda because it’s not sugar. That’s the idea. If you buy Splenda because you think it contains sugar then you are really defeating the purpose. I use Splenda (and I really do use it when it is available) because it is, in my opinion, the best sugar substitute on the market. I think it taste better than the others and that is reason enough for me. I think the Merisant Company is just crying because it lost some money. I think the money they are spending would be better utilized in the R&D department coming up with something better than Splenda, but what do I know.

Click Here to see if Splenda does really contain sugar.
Splenda I think that I should really be getting something from the makers of Splenda for this! How sweet it is!
