In a possible stroke of genius Skybus Airlines Inc. is looking at new ways to keep the cost of a plane ticket down. This is an interesting thought and may have some promise.
It keeps costs down by only taking reservations over the Internet and not staffing a call center.
That is just plain common sense right there! One of the biggest cost in any company is personnel. We can see the same trend taking place across the board. That’s why Blockbuster is pushing for individuals to rent their movies from Blockbuster Online. Once they can get their customers doing that, they can close stores and save on that overhead. The same thinking applies to the stores that have self-checkout lines now. Once they get you bagging your own items, they can get rid of some extra baggage of their own.
Look for the future of customer service to be all automated and don’t forget to press 2 for Spanish!
